Genes in Space is a national contest where our SCVi learners were able to participate in an authentic research experience that may potentially have real-world outcomes. Learners from Mrs. Ebony Eggleston’s biology and chemistry classes had the opportunity to propose DNA experiments that addressed the challenges and opportunities of space flight and space exploration. The winning experiment will be conducted by astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Win or not, this was definitely a great experience for our participating learners. Way to go, Gabriel Braunstei, Jullian Claro, Sam Fitzgerald, Blake Gilkey, Trinity Grillet, Zoe Pittman, and Joseph Trpcic.
