The two programs offered next year include:
- Entrepreneurship, with a possible emphasis on entrepreneurship in the Entertainment Industry, such as freelance stage or tech manager, independent filmmaker, agent, actor, and more.
- Engineering Technology, with a strong emphasis on Interactive Entertainment, which includes computer gaming, VR, theme park design, robotics and animatronics, and more. Engineering Technology will expand to aviation and aerospace the following year.
What is CTE?
From the California Department of Education website:
CTE is: A program of study that involves a multiyear sequence of courses that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to postsecondary education and careers.
And the Association of CTE website says:
Today’s cutting-edge, rigorous and relevant career and technical education (CTE) prepares youth and adults for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers.
Learners pursue their normal courses toward graduation while focusing electives, specialized coursework, and internships in a career field that interests them. The CTE certification can help learners both prepare for and get into colleges and universities, or in some cases make a direct move into the workforce.
