At iLEAD Schools, we know that creating and exploring the world through the arts enhances our learners’ experiences in all subject areas.

We view arts education as an integral part of developing the whole child. And to that end, SCVi strives to provide a high-quality arts education program for grades TK-12. Here, art not only stands alone as a core subject but is also part of our project-based learning in all subjects. Whether through dance, music, theatre, media, or visual methods, the arts are often viewed as the thread connecting multiple subject areas and are an invaluable part of the PBL process.

Here’s a small selection of arts opportunities at SCVi:

We believe that participation in the arts facilitates intercultural awareness and open-mindedness. Coursework in the arts is naturally collaborative, making arts education the ideal vehicle for helping young people become true 21st-century learners. The arts cannot be learned through occasional or random exposure any more than can mastery of math, language, or science concepts.

Each year, learners at SCVi share their love of the arts with our community through our school’s annual spring open house, which takes the form of artistic interaction and expression. SCVi learners have been showcased in Santa Clarita’s local galleries and have been honored with awards for their skill and ability in the arts. Our IB Theatre class enjoyed a field studies trip to London, where they participated in advanced workshops and attended live theatre performances almost daily.

“The arts enhance the process of learning. The systems they nourish — which include our integrated sensory, attentional, cognitive, emotional, and motor capacities — are, in fact, the driving forces behind all other learning.” — Eric Jensen, Arts with the Brain in Mind
