7th Grader Raising Funds for Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired

My name is Abby and I am a 7th grade learner at SCVi. I am doing a project about ableism. Ableism is discrimination against people with physical disabilities. Online, I found an organization called Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired. They serve approximately 2,600 clients each year! They help people who are blind or visually impaired learn how to independently and safely travel about, complete everyday tasks (such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, banking, raising children, etc.), communicate with braille or electronics, and use computer technology without vision. They actually send their teachers into young students’ schools to teach them braille, mobility, math, English, etc. In addition, they have social workers, support groups, eye clinics, and a branch of the Stanford Medical Library.

I am collecting bottles and cans to help raise money for the Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

You can help by donating to this site.

Thank you for being generous!

Sincerely,

Abby Blasberg
