Join TEAM iLEAD/SCVi EXPLORATION for the following events on Oct. 7:

Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Oct. 7
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and walk begins at 10 a.m.

Join Emily Strickland, iLEAD Exploration’s Lead Educational Facilitator in leading the way to Alzheimer’s first survivor by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®. Ms. Strickland has personally experienced watching someone go through this terrible disease from the very beginning about eight years ago to today, where her mother is currently under hospice care for end stage Alzheimer’s Disease. 

This disease not only affects the patient, but also it affects their entire family. The Alzheimer’s Association provides families the support they need to care for loved ones at home and through the transition to a nursing home.

BOX CITY
Oct. 7, 3 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 8

Box City is a fun and meaningful annual event in which people camp for the night in a temporary dwelling to increase awareness of the many homeless families in our own community, and raise money to support Family Promise of Santa Clarita Valley. 

Yes, you sleep in a cardboard box! While sleeping in a cardboard box can provide a valuable lesson in empathy, we understand that for health or personal reasons you may not be able to.

You may still participate as a “virtual resident” (raise funds, but sleep at home). Virtual residents are welcome to attend evening activities. 

Register to become a resident of Box City by signing up online; then pay the $25 registration fee and set a goal to raise $100 ($200 goal for families) in pledges or contributions.

All participants who register before Friday, Oct. 6, will receive a free Box City T-shirt; participants who register by Monday, Sept. 25, are guaranteed the T-shirt size of their choice.  Event Website  Please email your learner’s name once you have registered to emily.strickland@scvi-k12.org. Please also email if you are interested in being a chaperone for this event.
