Message from the Leadership Team

Dear SCVi Families,

Welcome back from break!

A big thank you to all of our families who took the time to complete our feedback surveys on “Meet your Facilitator Night” and “Back to School Night” and shared your thoughts with us. We have studied your responses carefully and below please find a summary of what you told us:

“Meet the Facilitator Night”

114 families kindly completed our survey, and of you, 4 out of 5 were either satisfied or extremely satisfied with the event.

What you told us you liked most were meeting your children’s facilitators, your children meeting their facilitators prior to their first day at school and seeing their classrooms.

What you told us you liked least were having the event on the evening before school starts, not necessarily having as much time with your children’s facilitators as you would have liked, and the directions to classrooms not being entirely clear. You also told us that you felt there was insufficient information available about volunteering opportunities.

Your general suggestions for how we might improve the event in the future include: changing the date to earlier than the evening before school starts, enhancing our instructions and signage, and providing more detailed location maps to ensure parents find their way around more effectively.

“Back to School Night”

55 families kindly completed the survey, and 4 out of 5 of you again told us you were either satisfied or extremely satisfied with the event.

What you told us you liked most were being able to connect with your children’s facilitators and the opportunity to ask questions to further your understanding.

What you told us you liked least were the start time (too early), and feeling rushed moving between classrooms.

Your general suggestions for how we might improve the event in the future include facilitators following a consistent presentation format, especially in outlining their expectations of parents, having the Cafe open to purchase refreshments, and enhancing the information given on school location maps to ensure parents find their way around more efficiently.

We will be endeavouring to incorporate your feedback and suggestions into our planning and organization of the next “Meet your Facilitator” and “Back to school night” events that will be held at the beginning of the 2018/2019 school year so as to ensure that all of our families start off the school year with an overwhelming level of confidence and enthusiasm.

As we come back from break, we are looking forward to a week full of opportunities for all our learners and families.  From the Financial Aid Workshop on Monday, Oct. 16, to Wednesday’s Family Night Fundraiser for our Theater Department at Chipotles, Thursday’s Great Shake and Full Steam Ahead Day, and finally our big Fall Festival on Saturday, we can’t wait to experience these events with our SCVi families.
