Parent University Is Back!
Come one, come all! Parents and SCVi admin, staff, and facilitators: You are all invited to SCVi PARENT UNIVERSITY!
Scarlet Foundation is hosting Parent University and will provide an ongoing monthly opportunity for parents and the SCVi community to come together to learn and connect with one another.
Our first Parent U of 2020-2021 will be on Thursday, October 1, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. The evening will focus on relationship building in the era of COVID-19 and SCVi online learning.
One of the cornerstones of SCVi and a project-based learning environment is collaboration, which is another way of saying “learning in relationship.” All of us are being challenged with COVID-19 and social distancing to learn and connect online. How is this impacting learners, families, and our relationship to SCVi?
Click below to join us Thursday, October 1, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM for Parent U.
This month will be part information and communication and part social mixer. Since we are not able to chit-chat in front of the school, this way we can meet one another on Zoom, make new connections, and leave inspired with ideas to help our kids connect online and connect with each other and their facilitators.
We are so excited to connect with all of you!
A big thank-you to SCVi parent, Kirsten Caplan, who graciously volunteered to organize Parent U for SCVi this year. Kirsten is a former middle school teacher in drama, theatre, and diversity and inclusion education. She is a theatre director, playwright, and actor. She currently is a freelance facilitator for difficult conversations and deep listening. She volunteers for AWARE (Alliance of White Anti-Racists Everywhere) and facilitates dialogues for white people to confront their own internalized racism and learn ways to grow from non-racism to anti-racism, which is a lifelong evolving process of humility, learning, and unlearning. This is her fourth year as an iLEAD parent. Both of her children attend SCVi; her son is in eighth grade and her daughter is in third.
Please email info@scarletparents.org if you have ideas for topics or would like to lead or be a guest speaker for a future Parent University.
