Congratulations to Senior Connor Raskin
On Tuesday, November 12, Connor Raskin was recognized as the 2019 Outstanding Youth Volunteer by the Association of Fundraising Professionals Greater San Fernando Valley Chapter.
Connor has been an SCVi learner since its beginning in 2008 and is currently pursuing a rigorous course of study at SCVi through the International Baccalaureate program.
Having participated in three experiments sent to the International Space Station, as well as interning on films with Think Ten media group, Connor was recognized for his leadership and dedication to the Cultural Bridges Backpacks Full of Hope service-learning project.
Having given up two spring breaks in 2018 and again in 2019, Connor traveled to Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria’s devastation to deliver supplies, build shelters, and aid in reforestation efforts. Backpacks Full of Hope has since become an annual trip and a year-round club at the school which Connor still helps guide and promote today.
Soon Connor plans to attend college, where he will pursue studies in film and astrophysics, though he intends to remain a part of Backpacks Full of Hope and support the group on future trips.
SCVi congratulates Connor Raskin on his dedication to helping others and being a leader who helps others see the value and rewards that come with being of service.
Backpacks Full of Hope is returning to Puerto Rico during Spring Break 2020. Click here to learn more!
