SCVi Learners Collect Prizes in Trash Can Art Contest

Congratulations to Girls Scout Troop # 7802 for winning Fan Favorite in the City of Santa Clarita Trash Can Art Contest, as part of the Earth Arbor Day festival. Three of our own SCVi 8th grade girls, Lucy O’Brien, Michayla Lawson, and Samantha Follett, and their troop came up with the design “We Are Groot” when challenging themselves to come up with art that had an environmental message.

Ms. Elizabeth Rydall and learners from her art class designed a piece called “Trash Bouquet, New Beginnings,” which took home the top Local Flaire prize. Ms. E’s next goal is to create a trash art contest featuring items found in the landfill.
